Sky and light
What lights the scene, and what is behind it. Most scenes want a sun (which is also where shadows come from) and a sky (day, night, stars and moons). Ambient light fills the shadows; lamps are lights you can see, with a fixture. The rest is atmosphere: fog, light shafts, reflections and ambient occlusion.
